Editing Non-Governed Content Tabs
To make edits to your Guide page's non-governed content tabs, you need to:
- Go to your program's Guide editing environment (this is the interface where you will make the edits)
- If you do not have access, see the instructions in Lumen/Guide Access
- Complete your school/college review process for edit review
- Contact your Guide coordinator for specific information
The Guide editing tutorial and university guidelines for specific tabs may help you as you edit these tabs.
Best Practices
The Graduate School recommends following these best practices as you edit your Guide page:
- Do not put governed content in non-governed tabs
- Example: do not list requirements in the overview or funding tabs
- Required shared content must be present in appropriate tabs
Overview Tab Format
Degrees/majors, doctoral minors, and graduate/professional certificates must have some of content on this tab.
- The type of content is at the discretion of the program.
- Examples: Summary of field, areas of research faculty focus, named options available and links to Guide page (if applicable)
- Named option pages must include the text: "This is a named option in the (major name)."
- The major name should hyperlink to applicable Guide page.
- Content after sentence is at the program's discretion.
Photos
Guide pages may have a photo at the top of each tab and thumbnail tile. To submit new photos, send to the Registrar's Office (guideeditor@office365.wisc.edu). The photo must meet the following requirements:
- landscape orientation
- high resolution (e.g., not pixelated at 100% view)
- possible to crop to 960 pixels wide x 420 pixels tall without losing significant content (do not crop yourself)
- colorful and interesting to view
- alternative text
See the accessible images and visualizations for guidance on how to write alternative text.
Funding Tab Format
Your program's funding tab should include the following information.
Shared Content
Insert the Graduate School's shared content (Graduate School Resources) at the top of the tab.

Service-based pricing programs must include shared content from the Provost's Office. Content after this is at the program's discretion.

Programs may include text after shared content with a header 3 and title of "Program Resources" or "Program Information".
Professional Development Tab Format
Your program's professional development tab should include the following information.
Shared Content
Insert the Graduate School's shared content (Graduate School Resources) at the top of the tab. Content after this is at the program's discretion.
