Guide: Editing Non-Governed Tabs
Non-Governed Tabs
Programs should not put governed content in non-governed tabs. For example, do not list requirements in the overview or funding tabs. This article refers to non-governed content in the Graduate Guide, including degrees/majors, doctoral minors, graduate/professional certificates, and capstone certificates.
Programs must edit non-governed tabs in the Guide editing environment. If you do not have access to this system, refer to the Lumen/Guide Access KB.
Overview
Degrees/majors, doctoral minors, and graduate/professional certificates must have some kind of content on this tab. The type of content is at the discretion of the program. Information commonly included in this tab:
- Summary of field
- Areas of research faculty focus
- Named options available and links to Guide page (if applicable)
Named option pages must include the following language:
"This is a named option in the (major name)." The major name should hyperlink to applicable Guide page. Content after sentence is at the program's discretion.
Photos
Guide pages may have a photo to appear on the top of each tab and thumbnail tile. New photos must be submitted to the Registrar's Office (guideeditor@office365.wisc.edu). The photo must meet the following requirements:
- landscape orientation
- high resolution (e.g., not pixelated at 100% view)
- possible to crop to 960 pixels wide x 420 pixels tall without losing significant content (do not crop yourself)
- colorful and interesting to view
- alternative text
Refer to the accessible images and visualizations page for guidance on how to write alternative text.
Funding
Degree/major pages begin with shared content. Service-based pricing programs must include shared content from the Provost's Office. Content after this is at the program's discretion.
Programs may include text after shared content with a header 3 and title of "Program Resources" or "Program Information".
Professional Development
This tab starts with shared content. Content after this is at the program's discretion.
Programs may include text after shared content with a header 3 and title of "Program Resources" or "Program Information".
