Canvas - Known Issue - Grade Posting Policies and Due Dates do not affect Feedback in New Quizzes [UW-Madison]

If you choose to provide any automatic feedback in New Quizzes, that feedback becomes available to students as soon as they submit their quiz.

If you set a grade posting policy or a due date, those settings will not affect when feedback is available in New Quizzes. Feedback is off by default in New Quizzes, but once you select show custom feedback with results in the quiz settings, any feedback you entered anywhere in the quiz becomes available to students whenever they submit their quiz.

As soon as they submit a quiz in New Quizzes, students can see:

    • General feedback

    • Question-level feedback

    • Answer-specific feedback

There is no way to control when that feedback becomes available to students in New Quizzes.

    Affects

Canvas courses using New Quizzes with automatic feedback enabled

    Status

Instructure is aware of the issue, but there is currently no fix on the Canvas product roadmap

    Workaround

There is no workaround. You can choose to not provide automatic feedback on a quiz, or you can choose to provide it and not control when students see it.
