Kaltura - MediaSpace Video Editing Tools (UW-Madison)

This document outlines how to access and use the Video Editing Tools in Kaltura MediaSpace (KMS).

The current release of the Kaltura Video Editing Tools adds a united interface for all editing tools, while removing the dependency on Flash from the previous clip and trim tools. Note that this is a relatively basic video editing tool. Advanced editing will require external software. The current release of the Video Editing Tools supports the following KMS features:

  • Clipping a media entry
  • Trimming a media entry
The current release of the Kaltura Video Editions Tools does not support the following KMS feature:
  • Creating and Editing Interactive Video Quizzes. See link for more information.

Prerequisite:

You must be the owner or co-editor of the media to use Kaltura Video Editing Tools, or have permissions to create clips of media entries.


Launching the Kaltura Video Editing Tools

  • Login to your KMS or KAF instance
  • Go to My Media 
  • Either click on the Entry’s Edit icon and then click Launch Editor

  • Click Launch Editor
  • or Click on the video thumbnail and then select Launch Editor from the Actions drop down menu.
  • The Kaltura Editor window is displayed.
