Extension Co-Funded Faculty Movement
Current Extension co-funded faculty can retain their faculty status if selected for co-funded vacant county educator positions. This provides flexibility for geographic relocation while retaining faculty status.
The following steps will occur as part of the hiring process:
- Once a resignation/retirement letter has been received which creates a county vacancy, the Area Extension Director (AED) will work with Assistant Deans and appropriate Associate Dean to seek clarification that this is an approved co-funded position to refill
- The AED will clarify the programmatic focus of the position by working with the county and the institute director to ensure the position is aligned to meet both county and statewide needs and priorities
- The vacancy will be recruited through standard Extension recruitment processes and the specific programmatic needs of the position will be listed. The position will be posted as an academic staff position
- Faculty interested in this position should apply as a candidate for consideration
- If the faculty member is selected as the successful finalist, the AED and Human Resources will work with the faculty member to maintain their faculty status and modify their current Position Description (PD). (The recruitment will be cancelled and the faculty member will be moved into the vacant position, not hired into the Academic staff position).
- The faculty member will continue to have their department and post-tenure requirements as part of their duties
- We anticipate that in most cases, only the geographic location will need to be modified in the faculty member’s appointment and a new appoint letter will be issued to indicate the change in geography.
