Hiring - Recruitment - Interviews - V. Non-Selects
Summary
- Communication may be sent to applicants not moving forward in the recruitment process at any point during the recruitment.
- ASU will always send a communication to any applicants not moving forward in the recruitment process. However, the Hiring Manager can communicate this to non-select first if desired. Please work with ASU.
- Best practice is for the Hiring Manager to reach out directly to any internal candidates; preferably in advance of any public notification of finalists.
- It is best practice to notify applicants as soon as absolutely certain that they will not be moving forward in the recruitment process as a courtesy to respect their timelines.
Instructions
1) After scoring
Non-select communication may be sent after scoring is completed if the Hiring Manager and Screening Panel determine that the lowest scoring applicants will not be eligible to interview at any point. For example, if applicants scored from 0-10; it may be decided that anyone with a score of 5 or lower will be automatically dismissed.
2) After interviews
Non-select communication may be sent after interviews are completed if there is a high probability of the candidate selected to advance accepting the job offer.
3) At recruitment close-out
This is the most common time to send non-select communication because it gives Hiring Managers the opportunity to look back at their entire pool of applicants if the candidate selected to advance declines the job offer. (please reference Hiring - Recruitment - Closing Vacancy)
